Guaranteed enjoyment on the snow in the Olympiaregion Seefeld

The Olympiaregion Seefeld, at 1500 metres in altitude with the spectacular views of the mountain scenery of the Hohe Munde, the Wetterstein and Karwendel ranges and down into the Inn valley, can welcome another astounding sight – an impressive building site as large as two football fields and with a depth of 15 metres.

Work has been ongoing at the new reservoir at the Gschwandtkopf since mid-April. Around 11,000 lorry journeys were necessary to prepare the foundations of the artificial lake which will make Seefeld snow-sure, not just with a view to the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in 2019.

The priority is resource-efficient snow production. The 110,000 cubic metres of water resources will allow snow production of 60 litres a second (as a comparison, the previous figure was 12 litres per second) or, in other words, in an average two days allow a 14km long and 12m wide trail to be covered in a metre of artificial snow.

The Olympiaregion Seefeld is the definite global leader among Nordic sports areas when it comes to the production of artificial snow – with its extensive knowhow, enormous available water resources and 29 snow cannons with the latest technical innovations.

The Olympiaregion Seefeld is proud of its perfectly-prepared 256km network of cross-country trails and world championship level of track servicing. The best training and competitive conditions are not just reserved for the world championship athletes. From cross-country beginner through to performance athlete, here on the sunny plateau everyone is on the right track to happiness.

Those who are already looking forward to their cross-country fun in the snow can book their winter holidays with no worries! Here in Seefeld it’s looking like ‘guaranteed fun in the snow’ from the middle of November.
